Seperation
The animal that our research team is researching is the Goblin Shark. Goblin Sharks are primarily found in small parts of America, Japan, Africa, Australia, and other places of the world. This species has learned to survive in harsh, deep parts of the ocean. Its diet consists of squid, jacopevers, deep sea rock fishes, red shrimps, and rays. Due to this, the goblin shark is a carnivore and loves to chew on almost anything it comes in contact with. The obstacle standing in its way is that it can be accidently caught by humans, but the chances of that happening are extremely rare. Luckily, in 200,000 years from now, there is a chance that these sharks will have to separate into deeper parts of the ocean. These sharks will do this to avoid being caught by humans.
Adaptations of the goblin shark
We think that the goblin shark will stay in the same vicinity but will move deeper down. We think that humans are its main predator so it would need to move more down so it wouldn’t be accidentally caught by humans. Right now, goblin sharks have a pinkish grey skin color allows it to camouflage with deep coral reef. But if it changes its skin tone to dark grey it can camouflage to the deep dark part of the ocean. The goblin shark’s vision isn’t the best because their eyelids aren’t retractable. So, if the goblin shark gets better eye sight it can see better and farther in the deep parts of the ocean. The biggest goblin shark found was 12.6 feet (384 cm) which is large. If the goblin shark changed size to be smaller it can move faster and be more agile in the water.
Division
After the goblin shark or the new name species, the vampire shark, goes through all of its mutations, it will not be able to have a sexual reproduction with the old goblin shark. Instead, it has to find a new mate with similar traits of other type of sharks. Some of the sharks we think that it could mate with the vampire sharks are sharks that went through similar mutations. When it is time to mate, instead of leaving the sharks to survive on their own, the male shark will care for the baby sharks, until they reach a proper age to care for their selves. Overall, the vampire sharks will learn to adapt well to their environment and raises new baby sharks.
